What we do

Epox-CO2 is a startup company focused on the economic exploitation of cutting-edge innovations in the synthesis of organic materials, especially synthesis otherwise realized only by complex biological systems.

Epox-CO2 develops in particular new processes for the synthesis of organic materials starting directly from C1 molecules (mainly CO2) for the realization of advanced polymers.

This radical approach allows to perform novel compositive possibilities which result directly in unprecedented technological properties of the materials.

Coupled with the ability to exploit a set of advanced functionalization, this opens to Epox-CO2 the way to the exploration of entirely new and forward-looking potential applications in fields like food packaging, regenerative medicine, and diagnostics.

Our Technologies

Synthesis: Epox-CO2 works on the mechanisms through which C1 molecules, especially CO2, can directly be used to build sophisticated carbon chains like advanced technological polymers, developing proprietary catalytic processes capable to realize materials of desired and defined industrial properties.

Controlled degradation: To guarantee a full circularity of their materials, Epox-CO2 researches and develops specific degradation methods for their materials.

Functionalization: To push beyond the potential of synthetic materials, even toward the interface with the biological world, Epox-CO2 develops customized functionalization of polymers by synthetic peptides that can induce selected cellular responses through specific actions on membrane receptors.
